The Information Resource Officer (IRO) Stephen Perry visited the U.S. Embassy in Montevideo, March 16-18, 2005. The purpose of the regional officer’s visit was to advise and train the Montevideo Information Resource Center (IRC) staff, as well as to provide training on free access information websites to several selected audiences.

On this visit, Mr. Perry presented a selection of Legal Resources on the Internet for the lawyers of the Colegio de Abogados del Uruguay. He also gave an internal workshop for the Embassy staff on sites with foreign policy information that is available through the U.S. Department of State and the Bureau of International Information Programs websites. U.S. Embassy Montevideo IRC Directors Liliana Alcardi and Adela Duran also gave a presentation on Internet Resources on Intellectual Property Rights for the Association of Librarians of Uruguay (ABU) during Mr. Perry’s visit.

IRO Perry also visited the Binational Center (Alianza Cultural Uruguay-EE.UU.) in Maldonado. He was welcomed by the Maldonado BNC Director Prof. Patricia Altamirano, as well as other BNC professors. While there, he held an interesting talk with the students. The United States Embassy also donated several books for children and adults to the BNC in order to improve the collection available to the teachers and students of the institution.
