4th of July Drawing and Essay Contest for Public Schools Announced

The contest commemorates the 229th anniversary of U.S. independence

This year's theme for the 4th of July Drawing and Essay Contest is "My definition of a Good Citizen". The contest, which is organized and sponsored by the U.S. Embassy Montevideo, is open to Uruguayan public school students from 8 to 17 years of age and is divided in two categories. The winners in each category, as well as the institutions they attend, will be awarded prizes such as computers and digital cameras. The prizes will be given out Monday, July 4, in a ceremony at the Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel.


Entries will be accepted in two categories:

A. Drawing for students, ages 8 to 11. Any technique or material may be used. Entries cannot exceed 25 x 35 cms.

B. Essay for students, ages 12 to 17. Entries must have a minimum of 300 and a maximum of 500 words.
