The U.S. Embassy Montevideo and The Jesse
Helms Center Foundation are sponsoring a Free Enterprise
Leadership Conference for Uruguayan high school students.
The conference is designed to expose students to free market
principles, character education and leadership training.
110 students from a Las Piedras high school are participating
in this conference.
The Free Enterprise Leadership Conference
(FELC), historically held at The Jesse Helms Center in Wingate,
NC and Campbell University and other national and international
locations, is offered free of charge to participants. Hundreds
of high school students participate each year in this exciting
program. FELC is an effective way to promote the students'
understanding of business, personal responsibility, and
the opportunities available to them in the free enterprise
Founded in 1987, the work of the Helms
Center involves education, historical preservation and public
policy promotion through a variety of programs for students,
scholars, and the general public.
