State Department Website Provides Comprehensive Coverage of G8

Site includes official statements, information on U.S. aid, environment policy

The U.S. Department of State has posted G8 Summit 2005, Gleneagles, Scotland – a Web page that includes comprehensive coverage of the U.S. presence at the July 6-8 Group of Eight meeting of leaders from the world’s leading industrialized countries in Gleneagles, Scotland.

The site includes fact sheets, conference documents, links to information on U.S. humanitarian assistance, environmental policy and global development, including the Millennium Challenge Account, the African Growth and Opportunity Act, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and other initiatives which aim to overcome poverty and disease and promote economic growth.

The summit brought together Prime Minister Tony Blair of the United Kingdom, French President Jacques Chirac, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, and U.S. President Bush.
