New Deputy Chief of Mission U.S. Embassy Montevideo Assumes Post

James D. Nealon, the new Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Embassy in Uruguay, arrived in Montevideo July 28 to assume his post.

Nealon will be in charge of the diplomatic mission as the Chargé D'Affaires until the new ambassador is named to replace Martin J. Silverstein, who completed his post August 1, 2005.

The representative has previously served in Uruguay between 1986 and 1990 as the Cultural Attaché. In addition, Nealon has been stationed in Chile, Hungary and the Philippines. His most recent assignment was in Spain as the Officer for Press and Cultural Affairs. He also served in various capacities in the Department of State in Washington, D.C.

Married to Kristin Nealon, is the father of four children. He is a graduate of Brown University and Boston College.
