Uruguayan President Vazquez Interviewed in Washington by VOA

Vazquez calls for renewed and stronger relations with the United States

Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez arrived in Washington yesterday where he held a number of meetings and interviews including a televised interview with journalist Adriana Amat for Voice of America (VOA).

While in Washington, Vazquez met with IMF's Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato and OAS Secretary General Jorge Miguel Insulza. Vazquez will be attending the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, September 15, where he is expected to address the UN Summit.

During his VOA interview, President Vazquez reaffirmed that his government will take every step necessary in order to strengthen relations with the United States by improving commercial relations and attracting private investment.
