State Department Announces “Doors to Diplomacy” 2006 Web Project Competition for Middle School and High School Students

Posted: October 17, 2005

The U.S. Department of State along with the Global SchoolNet Foundation is pleased to announce the 2006 "Doors to Diplomacy" award competition, open to middle school and high school students around the world. This educational award will recognize the student-created Global SchoolNet website that best teaches others about the importance of international affairs and diplomacy.

Global SchoolNet is a not-for-profit, Internet-based education foundation. The Doors to Diplomacy Award will be presented to a team entered in the Cyber Fair contest, which encourages students and educators to join together to build high-quality, educational websites on a variety of topics. The website entries will be available on the web as learning tools to millions of people around the globe.

The winning team will be announced in spring 2006, and the winning website will be able to be viewed from www.state.gov. Each student member of the team that wins the Doors to Diplomacy Award will receive a $2,000 scholarship, and the winning coaches’ schools will each receive a $500 cash award.
