The U.S. Embassy Montevideo and the Office of Defense Cooperation sponsored a United States Army South (USARSO) Army Family Team Building (AFTB) seminar for the Uruguayan Army's family support program.

The week long seminar, designed to support the unique requirements of the Uruguayan Army's deployment on multiple peacekeeping missions, took place November 15-18.

The USARSO team consisted of a team leader, Mr. Juan Huerta, and three U.S. AFTB volunteers, including the wife of the USARSO Command Sergeant Major, Mrs. Kelly Wood, Mrs. Delma Morales and Mrs. Carol Husband.

The seminar conducted various group exercises and presented a forum for professional sociologists and Uruguayan Army spouse volunteers to exchange ideas and become familiar with different support mechanisms for deploying soldiers and their families.

At the end of the week, all 40 Uruguayan participants were presented a certificate on behalf of the commander of USARSO. Additional seminars and exchanges in this program are being planned for next year.
