Uruguayan artist wins chance to study
in New Mexico
The Municipality of Montevideo awarded
prizes to the winners in seven different categories of the
2003 Municipal Visual Arts Salon on Dec. 19, 2003, and opened
an exhibition of their work.
In coordination with the Municipality
of Montevideo, and the University of New Mexico, the U.S.
Embassy, Montevideo, was able to arrange a special grant
category for an artist to travel to the Tamarind Institute
of the University of New Mexico to work and produce art
work for a period of one month. The prize went to Alejandro
Mayor of Montevideo Mariano
Arana, artist Alejandro Schmidt, and Acting Public Affairs
Officer David Foran.
